A FANS’ question-and-answer session planned with Wanderers chairman Ken Anderson was controversially shelved at the 11th hour last night.

The club had heavily advertised the event, which was planned to take place in the Platinum Suite this evening, aimed at giving supporters a chance to quiz the co-owner on current affairs at the Macron Stadium.

But after the final whistle blew on their match against Coventry City last nigght a statement was released confirming it would not go ahead.

“The planned supporters’ Q&A session with BWFC chairman Ken Anderson on Wednesday, November 23 has regrettably been postponed,” the statement read.

“The club would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and we will look to rearrange this session at the earliest available opportunity.”

When asked by The Bolton News for their reasons for cancelling the event, Wanderers said “unforeseen circumstances” had forced the decision.

But it is understood discussions have taken place between the club’s co-owners Anderson and Dean Holdsworth in the last few days aimed at resolving the boardroom feud which has steadily brewed between the pair since they completed the takeover in March this year.

Anderson had spoken at length in his programme notes at the weekend about his plans to improve communication between himself and the fans.

“As I have said previously, I want to be as open as possible with you, the supporters, and by holding an evening such as this I hope to be able to build on my relationship with you all,” he wrote.

“I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.”

He also extended the invitation in last night’s notes, adding that he wanted to “build upon and strengthen the relationship between us”.

The Wanderers Supporters' Trust have released the following statement to The Bolton News this morning: "Our initial reaction to the cancellation of this evening’s Q&A event with the Chairman is one of disappointment. We are disappointed that the fans will not be offered the opportunity to hear Mr Anderson’s plans for the club and, more specifically, to obtain some clarification on more immediate concerns.

"Mr Anderson has publicly indicated several times that the accounts are ready for filing. Companies House website today records that the accounts are still outstanding. It also shows that the confirmation statement (formerly known as the Annual Return) is now overdue.

"After the well documented trauma experienced, both on and off the field, by our club in recent times, this season’s performances from the manager, his backroom staff and the playing squad have been outstanding. We would urge Mr Anderson to bring the uncertainty to a close to avoid any damaging effects to performances on the field and to address potential player trading restrictions in the January transfer window.

"The BWFCST remains committed to engaging in community initiatives with the club and our recent offer to Mr Anderson to meet to discuss how the Trust can assist is still on the table.

"In the meantime, we will continue to monitor to the best of our abilities and we will discuss any implications with the football regulators as a matter of urgency."
