RYAN White bagged a hat-trick as Wanderers Under-18s beat Hull City 4-1 at home on Saturday.

It was the first outing for Nicky Spooner’s youngsters since their disappointing FA Youth Cup exit at Chester 10 days earlier and they bounced back in emphatic fashion against the Tigers.

The young Whites started the U18 Professional Development League clash brightly and created numerous chances without breaking through.

On 25 minutes, they did open their account when Jordan Grant’s cross found Jack Earing at the back post and he made it 1-0.

Wanderers continued to dominate but had to settle for just a one-goal lead at the break.

In the second half, the visitors netted an equaliser from a corner just 90 seconds in to catch Wanderers cold.

But within a few minutes, Hull were reduced to 10 men when their skipper was shown a red card for violent conduct.

Spooner’s side then took advantage to control possession and a second goal came when Earing turned provider to set up White and he finished across the City goalkeeper.

Ten minutes later, White struck again when he finished off another good Grant cross before he completed a second-half hat-trick in the bottom corner to seal the points.

The u18s travel across the Pennines on Saturday to face Leeds United in the league, kick off 11am.
