PHIL Parkinson wants officials to start cracking down on penalty box grappling.

The Wanderers boss was furious that officials on Saturday failed to spot first-half fouls against Gary Madine and David Wheater at set pieces.

He also claims there was a push on Darren Pratley inside the box for Northampton’s second-half goal.

The Whites did get a rare spot kick in the end, converted by Adam Le Fondre to bring them back on level terms but the manager is keen to see more action taken against defenders who pull shirts and wrestle off the ball.

“We were due a penalty but having seen the game again, we could have had more,” he told The Bolton News. “Gary Madine and David Wheater were both man-handled off the ball and it’s incredible to think that the officials didn’t see it.

“Northampton had obviously looked at our threat from set pieces are tried to counter it.

“The referee and the linesman have got to be better than that. If the same thing happens in the Premier League there are cameras on it right away.”

Parkinson has watched his side win handsomely against Fleetwood and Gillingham, then roll up their sleeves to despatch the Cobblers at the weekend.

But the Wanderers boss does not care whether his team get plaudits for the football they play at the Kassam Stadium.

“At this stage you do whatever you have to do to get results,” he said.
