PHIL Parkinson is desperate for Wanderers to get over the line in their promotion chase so he can press ahead with recruitment plans.

The Wanderers boss has plenty to sort this summer with a large number of his existing squad out of contract, including first-team stars like Jay Spearing, David Wheater, Gary Madine, Dean Moxey and Max Clayton.

He has been unable to make any promises on new deals until he knows which division the Whites will be playing in next season and likewise, his playing budget for next year remains unknown.

Despite yesterday’s results seeing the Whites’ rivals for second spot Fleetwood, Bradford and Scunthorpe all winning, two wins from the next four games will confirm automatic promotion and a guaranteed £6-7million in extra sponsorship.

Many clubs are already shaping their squad for next season and Parkinson is keen to press ahead with his own plans.

“We want to get to the point where we know which division we’ll be playing in because there is a lot of sorting to be done,” he told The Bolton News. “Obviously I am looking forward to that point but we’ve still got a job to do.

“Recruitment-wise it’s all there in the back of our mind. Me and Tim Breacker (chief scout) have got constant dialogue with agents and wherever you are in the league, there is discussion.

“You are touching base with people and keeping a rough idea of what you want to do but our main focus is on trying to get over the line.”

Parkinson’s situation is further complicated by the transfer embargo which still hangs over the club.

It is hoped the appointment of new auditors and submission of now-overdue financial accounts will be a step towards having it removed.

Meanwhile, it is understood free-agent midfielder Jem Karacan has extended his stay at the Macron Stadium for an additional month ahead of today's trip to Oldham.
