ANDY Taylor is poised to return in tomorrow’s crunch promotion clash with Bury – but the jury is out on whether Gary Madine will get the go-ahead.

Taylor has been missing for the last few games with a torn calf muscle but has returned successfully to training and is now in contention to face the Shakers at the Macron.

Madine, who has been out since injuring his shoulder against Shrewsbury, remains a significant doubt – with Phil Parkinson revealing his striker had suffered a setback in training last week.

Wanderers fans are hoping the big striker will make a recovery as Wanderers look to earn their first league double over Bury in 91 years.

Parkinson has tried to minimise the hype around the game but with close to 18,000 tickets already sold for the game, he admits his side need a swift response to their weekend defeat at Oldham.

“We have tried to keep things normal,” he told The Bolton News. “We can’t feel sorry for ourselves after Saturday even though we know it was a setback.

“When you get beat at any stage of the system it takes you a weekend to get it out of your system, for me and the players.

“But we have to be ready to go again.”

Pressure increased this afternoon as Fleetwood’s victory over Millwall brought them to within a point of the Whites in the second automatic promotion spot.

With Wanderers’ greater goal difference it is likely that five points will now be enough to seal promotion – although Scunthorpe also gave themselves an outside shot of a place in the top two by beating Chesterfield.

Bradford also have a chance but dropped to fifth after defeat to League One champions Sheffield United.

Parkinson will instruct his side to ignore the league table and the possible permutations as they look to return to top form again.

“We have to concentrate on the process rather than the outcome,” he said.

“Let’s forget about the points. Let’s just play the game and do what we need to do to win it.

“I listened to Frank Lampard on Sunday talk about what Chelsea have to do now – just go back, do the basics, do what has been successful all season. It’s the same for us.

“Yes, it’s a great game to be involved in. A Lancashire derby and one with high stakes but we have to stay calm.

“We need to concentrate on being our very best.”
