GARY Madine says he owed it to Wanderers to patch himself up and feature in the promotion run-in.
The striker was voted runner-up at the BWSA annual player of the year awards on Thursday night, admitting to supporters his injury had been worse than first feared.
But the 26-year-old front man is determined to play a part against Peterborough United on Sunday to seal promotion back to the Championship.
“It’s a bad one,” he told The Bolton News. “But I felt like I had to get out there and play against Port Vale last week. I couldn’t let the fans down.”
Asked what his best moment of the season has been so far, Madine picked out the 1-0 win at Southend United, even though he wasn’t on the pitch at the time.
“I was out the back having come off injured and I was feeling a bit down then I heard a big roar because Mark Beevers had scored,” he said.
“I just thought ‘that’s it’ – there were cards, music in the back of the bus until about 4am, it was brilliant.”
