AFC Dobbies completed their remarkable season on Sunday by adding the Sam Ashworth Trophy to the Division Three Cup and Championship trophies while remaining unbeaten throughout the campaign.

The Sam Ashworth final pitted the Division Three side against Division Two opposition in Radcliffe Old Boys A, but two goals from Carl Lomax and one apiece from Lee Smith and Rob Howarth saw them to a 4-1 victory. Doherty scored Radcliffe’s only goal.

Radcliffe Vets won the Division Two Cup final against Mersey Valley B by the same scoreline which would be some consolation for finishing below Mersey Valley in the league. A Greenhalgh double and one goal each for Dawson and Taylor did the job for Radcliffe Vets despite Hamilton netting one for Mersey Valley.

Salford Victoria drew with Mitchells Unicorn in midweek and beat Turton Bay Mare 4-1 on Sunday to stay on track for a third-place finish. O’Malley and Weall each scored twice while Plano scored for Turton.

Digmoor and North Walkden shared the points as Paul Rooney scored for Digmoor and Mark Morris levelled for North Walkden

In a potential Division Two relegation fight, Golborne Parkside visited Ainsworth A and won 4-2 to go one point above Ainsworth. Jones and Strudwick scored for the home side, but a Noel Coleman brace and strikes by Stephen Reilly and Stephen Hughes won the game for Golborne.

Division Three bottom side PF Bury lost their final game of the season when they went down 4-2 away to Bolton Wyresdale.

In the battle for second place, Lee Donoghoe and Paul Lewis goals gave Home Guard Failsworth Vets all three points to secure the runners-up spot and leave Ainsworth B, for whom Paul Roscoe scored, a point behind them in third spot.
