WANDERERS have told SIX players they can leave the Macron Stadium this summer.

Reece Wabara, Lewis Buxton, Liam Trotter, Tom Walker and Will Jaaskelainen will not be offered a new contract by the Whites.

And Conor Wilkinson, who has 12 months remaining on his deal, is free to speak with other clubs who have expressed an interest in signing him.

They may not be the last of the players shown the door, with further talks planned with several players at the end of this week and the start of next.

Trotter is arguably the biggest casualty so far, having featured 73 times for the Whites since making a loan move from Millwall permanent in the summer of 2014.

The midfielder appeared 23 times this season, scoring three times, including the winner at AFC Wimbledon back in August to hand Wanderers their first away victory in more than a year.

He failed to start a game after the 2-2 draw with Bradford City in February, however, and made his last appearance off the bench in the 4-2 victory over Fleewtood in March.

Buxton struggled with a back injury for most of the campaign, making 11 appearances, while Wabara made just one start after signing a short-term deal in February.

Walker has spent the season on loan at Bury but broke into the Wanderers first team under Neil Lennon and made 20 senior appearances, scoring a memorable goal against Wigan Athletic in March 2015.

Jaaskelainen – son of Bolton legend Jussi – signed pro terms at the start of the 2015/16 campaign but did not make a senior appearance.

Phil Parkinson placed on record his gratitude to the players for their input this season.

“We would like to thank Reece, Liam, Lewis, Tom and Will for their contributions to the club and we wish them well for the future,” he said.

“We have given Conor permission to speak with other clubs who have expressed an interest in him.”

Wilkinson played 10 times last season and also spent time at Chesterfield. In 17 senior appearances he has failed to score a goal for Bolton.
