WANDERERS Ladies will face local rivals Wigan Athletic in a special invitational match at the Macron tonight.

The double-winning team want to cap off a memorable season by showcasing their skills at the main stadium.

The match has also taken on extra poignancy since Monday night’s Manchester attack which took the lives of 22 people, including former Wanderers youth teamer Georgina Callander.

Wanderers will wear black armbands in memory of the youngster, who represented the girls’ under-11s in 2010.

Speaking last week, club secretary Darren Butler hoped fans who have watched the Ladies team go from strength to strength this season would come to support.

“The match is about showcasing what the girls can do and, hopefully, a few people can come down, like what they see, and get involved,” he said.

“We get on well with Wigan, who have also had a successful season, and it’s a local derby so it should be a good game.”

Kick-off is 6.45pm and tickets, priced at £3 for adults and £1 concessions, can be bought on the door.
