WANDERERS gained their first shirt sponsor in 1980 – a time when very few clubs sullied the front of their kit with a company’s name.

Non-league Kettering Town were the first club to break ranks in 1976 – backed by a petition to the Football League signed by none other than Bolton and Derby County.

Liverpool became the first big side to include a sponsor in 1977 when Hitachi put their name to the home kit.

This week they announced BetFred as the latest partner, so we decided to look back and see some of the logos and no-gos from years gone by.
