CONSISTENCY is proving a problem for Wanderers Ladies after stepping into the Premier League.

The gloss was taken off last weekend’s excellent cup win at Leicester City at the Kensite Stadium on Sunday when they fell to a 4-1 defeat against an experienced Morecambe.

The visitors seized an advantage after only three minutes and then extended it to four goals early in the second half with a clutch of goals from set pieces.

Shel Saunders did add a consolation and the only other bright spot was a debut for local 16-year-old Ellie Mills.

Scott Strang had a more balanced reserve side to pick from this week and it was reflected in a 7-1 win at Brighouse in the cup.

Debut goals from Emma Cann and Rachel Owen were added to by a brace from Millie Critchley and a hat-trick for Shellby Wolstencroft.

Wanderers’ Under-21s were beaten 2-0 by Bury in the North West Regional League – Katie Kefford standing out in goal.

The Community Team lost 3-2 at Beechfield, losing a point at the death after Poppy Halms and Stacey Saunders had brought the scores level.

The Under-14s went goal crazy against Lostock, Rhia Dickins hitting a double hat trick alongside braces for Annabel Edge and Charlotte Bird and one each for Rubie Hoofe, Darcie Tennant, Lauren Lynchey in a 13-0 win at Lostock.
