PHIL Parkinson says he will be watching his step against Sheffield Wednesday.

Sent to the stands when Wanderers beat the South Yorkshiremen in the Carabao Cup in August for leaving his technical area, the Whites boss was hit with a heavy fine from the Football Association.

“That one step outside the line cost me two grand,” he complained. “It was the most expensive walk I’ve ever had!”

Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal fared worse, landing a £4,000 fine and a two-match touchline ban after clashing with stewards in the stands.

The Owls sit 12th after a patchy start to the season but bounced back to form before the international break with an impressive 3-0 win over Leeds United.

“They’ve spent an incredible amount of money to get into the promised land of the Premier League and nearly got there,” Parkinson said. “The disappointing thing for them was having got into the play-offs last season they didn’t perform.

“Other teams have emerged this year and it’s a more competitive division.

“The expectation will be on them I’d imagine not only to be in the top six, but the top two.”
