THE Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust has added three directors to the board following the completion of the election process.

Mike Smith – who is re-elected, having previously stood down - Paul Brown and Simon Nightingale will now serve on the BWFCST board alongside Daniel Izza, Terence Rigby and Maggie Tetlow.

For the second successive term the election process did not require a vote, as the number of nominations fell short of the four required.

Under the model rules on which the trust were established, and the trust’s electoral policy, a vote is only applicable if the number of nominees exceeds the available spaces to be filled. In this case, three of the 2,487-strong membership successfully applied.

It is now possible a fourth director could be installed in the interim to fill the gap.

A statement from the BWFCST issued to members explained: “The election process did not go beyond the nominations process as we were seeking four new directors.

“The board will now consider whether a further director is to be co-opted on to the board until the next elections.

“As members will note the process of our election was once again conducted under the scrutiny of the Electoral Reform Services and Supporters’ Direct.

“Finally, we would like to thank Dave Cookson and Ian Bridge for their work in overseeing the interaction with the Electoral Reform Services.”
