WANDERERS’ wretched run of results at Nottingham Forest continued after a second-half slump at the City Ground.

Phil Parkinson’s side had hauled themselves back into the game at 1-1 through Will Buckley and looked good to take the lead with good chances falling to Gary Madine and Josh Vela.

But when Joe Worrall pounced from close range to give Forest the lead against the run of play on the hour, Bolton’s momentum slowed.

Ben Brereton added a third before the end and despite Worrall then putting through his own net in injury time, the Whites’ winless run in this part of the East Midlands – which stretches back to 2001 – continued.

“We have dropped three points today, not one,” Parkinson said. “The first goal should never have stood, there’s a free kick right in front of us but we still should have dealt with it better.

“We controlled the game for long periods. Start of the second half we were excellent and had two gilt-edged chances to go ahead. It was probably as good as we have played for 60 minutes.

“The second goal we conceded knocked the stuffing out of us and we stopped for a period, losing the momentum. You fight against it but it’s natural sometimes.

“They got a lift from that goal and the crowd were getting right on top of them.

“One aimless ball into the box hasn’t been dealt with and we’ve been punished.

“The third goal is when we went three at the back trying to chase our way back into the game, leaving ourselves open. And we nearly got back into it at the end.

“A lot of the play was great but the second goal changed the game.”
