PHIL Parkinson is looking for a big performance from Wanderers this afternoon before diverting his attention to the cut-and-thrust of the transfer window.

Ipswich Town visit the Macron Stadium looking to complete a league double over the Whites, who were beaten 2-0 at Portman Road back in September.

After that, Cardiff City’s FA Cup replay win in midweek gives Parkinson and his players a welcome weekend off before Championship play is resumed on February 2 against Bristol City.

And the Wanderers boss is determined to head out on an unexpected break with a bang.

“We’ve got to make it count,” he told The Bolton News.

“I was pleased Cardiff won because it gives us a bit of breathing space on a few things.

“Darren Pratley will be that little bit closer to fitness, we’ll have some extra time to sort the squad out.

“First we have to make sure we put everything into a game I know will be hard-fought and fiercely competitive. We have been good at home of late and I want that to continue.”

Parkinson confirmed some of his fringe players could be moved on before deadline day.

“At the moment we can’t move anyone on until we get players in,” he said. “There are one or two lads who haven’t figured a lot recently and they want to go and play somewhere. A few have asked me that question. But we can’t reduce the numbers we have got until we bring in some reinforcements.”

Reece Burke and Josh Cullen could hold the solution, with their return on loan from West Ham dependent on the Hammers’ injury problems subsiding.

The pair may yet be kept on for the fourth-round games next weekend but Parkinson is confident he is on top of the situation.

“I know Alan Irvine and Stuart Pearce well, I have spoken to David Moyes as well – they are all good people and they’ll do what they can,” he said. “Every time they pick up the paper there’s speculation on one of their players going so David is fielding a lot of calls at the moment but we’re in as much dialogue as we can be with them without pestering the life out of them.”

n Wanderers’ league match at Cardiff City has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 13, kick off 7.45pm.
