THE Bolton at Home Sunday League finally beat the weather to fulfil a near full programme of fixtures for the first time since the end of October.

Farnworth United cemented their place at the top of Division One with a 4-3 victory at fellow title contenders Astley Bridge Elite.

The evergreen Gaz Bentley scored two for Farnworth with Joe Cappy and Chris Merritt getting their other goals. Tom Howlin, James Marsh and Danny Hague replied for Astley Bridge.

Last season's champions and currently second-place team, Queen Anne, also won by a single goal to keep the pressure on Farnworth.

They beat the much-improved Dehaviland 3-2 with a superb comeback performance.

Trailing 2-0 at half time, Chris Cankalis, James Tobin and a Chris Donahue penalty turned the game around and gave the Queen all three points.

Danny Lowe and Brad Jackson were on the scoresheet for Dehaviland.

Another team with title aspirations, Top Club, currently sit in third place with games in hand on the top two.

Yet another single-goal victory maintained their title challenge at home to Newbury.

Aiden Heaton and Lewis Porter scored for the Little Hulton side in a tight 2-1 victory in which Ainsley Turner replied for Newbury.

Bottom club Manny Road picked up a point in an away game at Adlington's Bridge Celtic in which a poor pitch did not help either team.

In Division Two, runaway leaders Barr Hill travelled to Walkers to play Heaton Casuals and returned to Salford with the three points after a 2-0 victory, both goals scored by prolific winger Rhuben Rose.

Heaton Casuals will take heart from their performance and result as they showed a stunning improvement from the last time they played Barr Hill when they got beat 20-0.

Second-placed Westhoughton won 3-2 at Deane's Lostock ground in a hard-fought game.

Their goals came from Ryan Gannon, Declan King and own goal with Yazz Smajic and Nathan Hatton replying for Deane.
