ANTONEE Robinson has been handed his first international call-up by the USA.

The on-loan Everton full-back has been in fine form for Wanderers this season, making 30 appearances in all competitions.

English-born Robinson has already represented the US at Under-18s and Under-20 level, qualifying for selection through his father.

The US have not qualified for the World Cup, giving head coach Dave Sarachan the chance to look at new options. Robinson is one of five potential new caps in the squad to face Paraguay in the early hours of next Wednesday morning in North Carolina.

"This match once again represents an opportunity for some new faces. The roster has an average age under 24, so for the most part this is a group of younger players that we feel have a future with the National Team along with some familiar names,” Sarachan said. “The timing is right to give these guys international exposure, and they will certainly be tested against a strong and experienced Paraguayan team.”

Robinson moved to the Macron last summer having played only a handful of games for Everton’s Under-23s in the Checkatrade Trophy.

He made his senior debut in the EFL Trophy against Crewe, followed by a league debut in a 3-0 defeat against Middlesbrough a month later.

The 20-year-old has had the edge on experienced team-mate Andy Taylor for much of the season but recently returned to the bench after Wanderers moved to a back four.

He featured as a late sub in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa, which restored Wanderers’ six-point gap on the bottom three.
