WANDERERS are taking a look at Sunderland midfielder Chris Allan on trial.

The left-sided 19-year-old has been a regular in the Black Cats’ development squad in the past 12 months, and was drafted on to the bench for two Checkatrade Trophy matches at the start of the season.

Jarrow-born Allan joined Northern League Dunston UTS on loan at the end of last season, making three appearances.

The youngster is expected to line-up for David Lee’s table-topping side this evening against Cardiff City, with the young Whites looking to build on last week’s 3-1 victory over Barnsley.

Bolton currently have a five-point advantage over Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City at the top of the Professional Development League North table with seven games left to play.

The top two in both the northern and southern section meet in a two-legged play-off before the winners face each other to decide the overall league champions.
