TEMPEST United got their revenge for the previous weekend’s Richardson Cup defeat at the hands of Premier Division rivals Eagley by completing the league double over them.

Trevor Ball’s side went ahead with a goal by Matty Carter on their way to a 2-1 victory at home.

Eagley had a couple of chances after that but the hosts doubled their lead with another effort by Carter following fine work by Matty Ashcroft.

Tempest played the final 25 minutes with 10 men after Sean Rothwell was sent off and Eagley pulled one back with a free kick by Ashley Young.

Gary Westhead, Tempest’s assistant coach, said: “We defended tremendously to see game out. We needed that win with others around us winning.

“It moved us up to 12th in the table and hopefully now we can push on. We have lots of home games left, which could be crucial.”

In Division Two, Ladybridge had to settle for a point despite storming into a three-goal lead against high-flying CSK Ulverston.

Two fine individual goals from John Smalley and Jordan Hussey and a strike from Steve Schofield put them 3-0 up after 25 minutes.

The inexperience of the young Ladybridge side began to show with Ulverston grabbing a goal back just before half time and two in the first 15 minutes of the second half. But Ladybridge held on and had the better chances to win it in the closing stages.

CMB were able to hold on to an early advatnge to run out 3-1 winners at Todmorden.

They dominated the first half and went into the break 2-0 up following two goals from Andrew Warburton.

Todmorden pulled one back after half time but Steven Fairclough’s third goal for CMB proved decisive.

A goal by Charlie Dorsey three minutes from time saw Stoneclough pick up a win over Furness Cavaliers.

In Division One, Bolton County boss Henry Chapman was frustrated by the lack of urgency from his side in a 3-3 draw with Ambleside.

Liam Stewart bagged a brace while Gareth Colquitt was also on the scoresheet.

Turton’s recent fine run of four away wins came to an end in their first home game of the month, which they lost 2-0 to Burscough Richmond.

With five first-team players out through injury or suspension, the makeshift side struggled to gel and sloppy defending handed the vistors the lead on 25 minutes.

Jordan Lomax was unlucky not to equalise before Burscough increased their lead midway through the second half. Turton defenderAdam Street was then ruled offside after scoring with a great header from a Matty Eckersley free kick. And both Daniel Locke and Lewys Jones fluffed late chances to score after racing clear of the Burscough defence.
