TURTON FC continued their sparkling away form with their fifth straight win with a 4-2 victory at Furness Rovers.

After three seasons of not getting a victory in Barrow they followed up an excellent 4-0 success against Dalton at the beginning of November.

The visitors had to come from behind and Kieran Sisson soon equalised with a well taken finish from just inside the box.

Some excellent build-up play on the right ended with Dave Hanlon slotting home to increase the lead and the first half finished 2-1 up for the visitors.

However, it was the home side that came out more fired up for the restart and a penalty was awarded against Daniel Locke which levelled the scored again.

Centre-forward Sisson scored twice including a penalty to get his hat-trick to round off the scoring.

However, it was not a good afternoon for other Bolton-based sides as they lost their matches.

Bolton County were defeated on the road against Burscough Richmond 3-1 with Matt Ormerod getting their goal.

Elsewhere, Eagley lost 4-0 to a far superior team Blackpool Wren Rovers side who are on an amazing run of results.

Individual errors cost them the first two goals and once they were 2-0 down against a good side there was very little chance of getting back.

Rovers scored twice late on when Eagley were pushing up trying to back get into the game.

Boss Phil Roberts said: “They were the best team I’ve seen at Eagley for a long time. You can’t knock the lads’ effort, they worked hard.

“At the moment sometimes we are lacking the quality but it’s just a case of heads-up-train-hard this week then on to the next one.”

In the same division, Tempest United lost 3-1 at home against Burnley United.

Fresh from their victory over Eagley last week they were brought down to earth in the first 45 minutes of this one.

Matty Carter made it four goals in three games and could have had more but did not take his chances.

The visitors capitalised when they equalised just before the break.

Tempest never got going in the second half.

Burnley scored a second goal and added another before the final whistle.

Assistant boss Gary Westhead said: “It was disappointing after last week but that’s why we are near the bottom.

“We did not take our chances and gave soft goals away. We have to move on to next week at home against Longridge which is a tough game but one that we can win.”

Elsewhere in Division Two, Stoneclough sit just above the bottom two after a 4-0 defeat to Haslingden St Mary’s.

CMB lost 2-1 away to Milnthorpe. They were leading 1-0 with a goal by Craig McGinlay but they then went down to 10 men with a straight red after 20 minutes.

They managed to contain a strong Milthorpe side until midway through the second half when they levelled, and then scored the winner two minutes from time.

Ladybridge were punished on the road by a stronger Leyland United outfit 5-2.

Jamie de Sousa handed Ladybridge the lead after two minutes but Leyland got more possession and found themselves 2 -1 up at half time.

The young Ladybridge side struggled to cope with the heavy pitch and Leyland ran out 5-2 winners despite a superb goal by Steven Schofield.
