FARNWORTH Town sealed promotion to Division One after a 2-1 win at Radcliffe Town.

Jason Tyldesley’s side opened the scoring inside 90 seconds with Kieran Ward heading home from a long throw-in.

Two minutes later the Farnworth goalkeeper swung and missed his attempted clearance from a backpass to gift Radcliffe the equaliser.

Just before half time, Brad Tyldesley smashed home the winner after a lovely flowing move. However, the afternoon turned sour for the Farnworth skipper when he was given a harsh red card for a tough challenge midway through the second half.

Farnworth held on and manager Tyldesley was delighted with their achievement.

He said: “I can’t wait for next season. It’s a new challenge and hopefully, with a good pre-season, we can kick on and push for the Premier Division.”

In the Premier Division, Little Lever SC continued their end-of-season slump with a 5-2 home defeat to Failsworth Dynamos.

Phil Regan opened the scoring for Little Lever, but Failsworth equalised on the stroke of half-time. Two goals in a minute at the start of the second half knocked the wind out of Lee Buckley’s side and Failsworth added a fourth midway through the period.

Regan scored his second to reduce the deficit, but a late goal made it 5-2 and five league games without a victory for Little Lever.

Player Andy Bingham said: “It was a pretty poor performance. It was just one of those end-of-season games and we want to see the back of this campaign. It’s difficult when you can’t get the same team out every week because of people working, but it’s the same across the league.”

Howe Bridge Mills, who face Little Lever in the final game of the season at Mytham Road, were beaten 4-1 by title contenders Prestwich, making it five defeats and a draw in their last six games.
