RADCLIFFE Borough slumped to a 4-1 defeat in Cumbria as managerless Kendal Town recorded their first win of the season.

Boro’s Chris Cheetham had to react quickly to tip a header over the bar as early as the fourth minute.

At the other end Sam Grimshaw’s shot and turn from the edge of the box failed to trouble the Kendal goal.

Warren Beattie opened the scoring for Kendal in the 14th minute when his shot from just inside the penalty area beat Cheetham.

Boro were quick to reply and three minutes later Michael McGinlay’s cross-shot found Jack Hindle in the penalty area and he made no mistake.

Just before the break, Boro forced a succession of corners as they pressed to gain an advantage but the scores were level 1-1 at the interval.

Kendal regained the lead on 65 minutes when Kieron Pickup’s shot from the edge of the penalty area gave Cheetham no chance.

Kendal increased their lead on 88 minutes when Rob Wilson’s shot found its way into the back of the net.

Maison McGeehan wrapped the game up for Kendal Town with almost the last kick of the game.

Elsewhere in the North West Counties League, Daisy Hill took the bragging rights beating Atherton LR 2-1 after extra-time in the Men United Cup.

The two teams were locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes before Daisy grabbed the winner.

Atherton Collieries relied on extra-time also to defeat Cheadle Town 4-2 in the same competition.
