TURTON kept up the pressure at the top of Division One with a 7-3 win at Hurst Green.

The visitors started brightly and deservedly took the lead when a great move ended with Dylan Winstanley slotting the ball past the advancing keeper.

However, the Thomasson Fold men conceded two soft goals, both from corners, against the run of play.

Turton equalised from a counter-attack, top-scorer Kieran Sisson making a great run and applying a superb finish.

Hurst Green took the lead just before half-time, tapping in the loose ball after a tremendous save from Josh McGreavy.

Turton dominated the second period. Dave Hanlon scored a wonderful goal with his left foot, the ball whizzing into the top corner, to equalise. And shortly afterwards he fired Turton ahead with a right-foot strike across the keeper.

Jonny Waterworth made it 5-3 with a left-foot drive following a corner. And Hanlon completed a deserved hat-trick when finishing off a flowing move.

Danny Locke got the final goal, going round the keeper to tap in after being put through.

Turton manager Neil Johnson said: “I am so proud of the lads.

“The pitch at Hurst Green is immaculate and suited our passing game.

“We were excellent throughout the team and devastating on the counter-attack.

“The only disappointment was conceding three goals — but I am being picky.

“It was a brilliant performance. And with Hurst Green just behind us in the table and with a game in hand, a win was vital.”
