THERE were mixed fortunes for North West Counties League Division One rivals Atherton Collieries and LR on Saturday as they prepared for last night's Flat Cap derby .

A bumper crowd of 350 turned out to see Laburnum Rovers squander a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 at Darwen, while leaders Coll recorded their 13th league win out of 13.

Colls were 4-0 up at half time at home to sixth placed Rochdale Town, and went on to win 6-1.

Mark Truffas put them ahead on five minutes, a long ball was chested down by Mark Battersby and fed through to Truffas who produced a composure finish.

Truffas made it two on 40 minutes when he curled an exquisite free kick into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Battersby scored from close range two minutes later before Ben Hardcastle added a fourth just before the break.

Colls took their foot off the pedal in the second half, Hardcastle adding another on 59 minutes and substitute Jordan Cover making it 6-0 five minutes from time before Kristian Evans scored Rochdale's consolation.

Rovers remain fourth despite the defeat due to Hanley Town and Rochdale also failing to pick up points.

Joel Igenosa fired the Atherton men into the lead on 42 minutes and it remained that way until midway through the second half when Darwen scored the first of three goals in 15 minutes to seal the points.

Third-placed Daisy Hill lost further ground on Cammell Laird above them when they drew 3-3 draw at Litherland REMYCA.

Curtis Cummins scored all three for the New Sirs outfit but it was not enough to beat a REMYCA side rejuvenated following the appointment of a new management team.
