BREIGHTMET United gave a good account of themselves against Old Alts – leaders of the Manchester League First Division – but fell foul of a debatable penalty decision to lose 2-1.

Kyle Bailey put them ahead after 10 minutes with a low strike, but Breightmet conceded a leveller from the spot on 30 minutes and fell behind following some lax defending five minutes later.

"The penalty knocked the wind out of our sails as we were dominating the game before that," said manager Simon Wilcox.

"The referee initially said it was for obstruction but then changed his mind and said one of our guys kicked someone.

"I couldn't understand that and the lads let them get under our skin after that."

Chris Coyne was sent off for retaliation on 55 minutes but Breightmet came back into the game with 10 men and had the better of the play in the closing stages without being able to force and equaliser.
