Genesis face league rivals in cup opener

Although still awaiting confirmation of their UniBond League Division One North fixtures for next season, Leigh Genesis know what awaits them in the cup competitions.

First up for Garry Flitcroft’s side is a trip to league rivals Warrington Town in an FA Cup preliminary round tie on Saturday, August 29 (kick off 3pm).

Genesis kick off their FA Trophy campaign with a first qualifying round tie away to British Gas Midlands League One side Atherstone Town on Saturday, October 17 (kick off 3pm).

Vodkat NW Counties Division One side Daisy Hill have received a bye in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase and will kick off their campaign with a second qualifying round tie against the winners of the Runcorn Linnets-Stavely Miners Welfare clash on Saturday, Sept 19. The incentive for victory will be another home tie in the first round proper against either Ashton Town or Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on Saturday, October 3.

Craig Thomas’s side will travel to Leek CSOB in the first round of the Vodkat Challenge Cup on Saturday, October 10 with the prospect of a home tie against local rivals Atherton LR in the second round on October 31, if they are successful.

They kick off their First Division Trophy campaign with a second round tie at home to AFC Blackpool on November 28.
