KEVIN Glendon is calling on his young Radcliffe Borough side to dust themselves down and bounce back from successive defeats to the Evo-Stik Division One North top three sides when they host Padiham tomorrow.

Despite seeing his side slip to second bottom the manager has been satisfied with performances.

And he is looking for more of the same against a side five places above them.

“I cannot fault the effort and commitment,” he said. “It hasn’t gone our way but we cannot feel sorry for ourselves – we have a big game on Saturday.

“We know it is a young side and experience has proved the difference in recent matches.

“But we are going in the right direction.”

Borough are short of bodies at the back after losing their second left-back in successive weeks to injuries – Sam Grimshaw following Danny Lambert into the treatment room – that will keep them out for six to eight weeks.

They have also lost striker Dennis Sherriff who has joined Droylsden.

In the North West Counties League Division One, Atherton Collieries and Daisy Hill go head to head tomorrow when the local rivals meet at Alder House.

The local rivals last met in August where Daisy inflicted Colls’ only defeat to date in the league at New Sirs.

Goals from Sakeel Abdullah, Nial Calaghan and Andrew Buckley momentarily took Craig Thomas’ men to the top of the table, but they have since slipped down to 13th.

The visitors will be hoping to make up for that early-season defeat with a victory tomorrow that could see them regain top spot.

Collieries currently sit in second place, with two games in hand over league leaders Hanley Town.

Elsewhere, Atherton Laburnum Rovers travel to reigning champions Formby.

LR currently sit in fifth place, two points ahead of Formby. Not only could Michael Clegg’s side open up a five-point gap over their opponents, but they could also do Colls a huge favour as Formby are still seen as promotion contenders with their large amount of games in hand.
