OLD Boltonians and Castle Hill are establishing a Bolton stranglehold at the top of the Premier Division.

And the leading lights of the division are showing no sign of easing up as both produced their best performances of the season on Saturday.

Old Bolts, the section’s only unbeaten team and six points clear at the top, were outstanding in their 6-1 away win at Hesketh Bank, while second-placed Castle Hill sparkled in a stunning 4-1 home victory in their showdown with third-placed Old Mancunians.

Captain James Kinsler got the ball rolling for Old Bolts when he met Lee Worswick’s superb delivery with a firm header.

Worswick and his fellow winger Sean Rushton were outstanding, but it was handful striker Kyle Rose who stole the show with four goals.

His first came on 25 minutes when he showed strength and a cool finish to double the lead.

And a similar goal, in which he again strugged off the centre-halves, made it 3-0 at half time.

His hat-trick came when he won a one-on-one before Hesketh Bank got their consolation.

Rushton made it 5-1 after more good work from Worswick before Rose chipped the keeper for the sixth.

“It could have been a lot more,” said manager Julian Stevens.

“The wing play was outstanding and Kyle’s on fire at the moment. It’s all going well but we’ve won nothing yet.”

The team looking most likely to stop them is local rivals Castle Hill who moved six points clear of Old Mancunians who have a game in hand on them.

The game saw the team’s goal of the season so far from Ben Wells.

Manager Rob Rostron said: “We were 3-1 up after about 70 minutes and the ball came into Ben at pace with his back to goal.

“He did a (Dennis) Bergkamp and flicked it one way and ran round his marker the other, did two step overs and feigned a shot to beat another then slotted it into the top corner.

“It was an absolutely amazing goal, and it summed us up on the day.

“They are one of the best sides in the league and we tore them to pieces.

“It just all came together right through the team, and Robert Walsh in centre midfield was the man of the match.”

Jason Perry fired in the first on 10 minutes, Old Mancs equalised on the half hour, Wells slotted home the Tonge Moor men’s second a minute later and Carl Henry made it three after an hour.

Howe Bridge Mills were rueing two points lost after a 2-2 draw at Rossendale Amateurs.

But secretary Vinny Monks believes the team is on the right track.

“We’ve got six or seven lads in the team who are between 18 and 20 and they will be a good side in a couple of years,” he said.

“We passed them off the park and could have won 8-1 easily but for problems putting the ball in the net.”

Dave Hogan scored both Howe Bridge’s goals, twice putting them ahead before Rossendale grabbed an injury-time equaliser from the spot.

The Atherton side believed they should have gone 3-1 ahead two minutes earlier when an Elliott Beaver was ruled out for offside.
