ATHERTON Collieries could extend their lead at the top of the North West Counties League Division One to six points tomorrow when they host Holker Old Boys at Alder House.

The Atherton outfit currently have a three-point lead over 1874 Northwich, who face third-placed Nelson.

The last meeting between Colls and Old Boys ended in a 2-2 draw at Rakesmoor in August.

The visitors have failed to kick on and go into the match 14th in the table, although they did hold promotion-chasing Hanley Town to a 1-1 draw last weekend.

Daisy Hill, who are without a win in 11 matches, welcome last season’s league champions Formby to New Sirs where the home side will be looking to create an upset.

There is no match this weekend for Atherton LR, who are not due to play again until the visit of Hanley Town at Crilly Park next Saturday.

Radcliffe Borough face a crunch trip to fellow relegation strugglers Wakefield on Saturday.

A win would see the Stainton Park outfit leapfrog the West Yorkshire side and move out of the drop zone in Evo-Stik Division One North.

Boro are currently second from bottom, a point and one place behind Wakefield.
