DANNY Bowcock scored a goal which could have a vital influence on the final placings at the top of Division One.

He hit the winner in a stunning 6-5 comeback victory for Morris Dancers over Newbury which stretched their lead in top spot to six points over second-placed Cattle Market.

Having played five games more than the Cattle men, it could just be a matter of time before the latter make up the difference.

But Bowcock’s winner certainly made a big difference to his side’s chances of finishing above Newbury who would have been six points behind Dancers with two games in hand had they won.

Dave Bretherton, John Gregory both scored twice, and Darren Winnard got the other for Dancers who were 4-1 down at half time.

Cattle Market maintained their status as the team to beat after romping to a resounding 13-2 home victory over third-bottom Moses Gate.

Nathan Monson rattled in five goals, with Sean Rothwell scoring a hat-trick, James Tobin getting two and Micky Bottomley, John Cabbage and Josh Lee one each.

Darcy Lever climbed over Moses Gate with a fine 3-2 win against fifth-placed Farnworth United.

Gaz Whiteside, Ste Dawson and Paul Knowles were on target for Darcy, and Garry French and Anthony Harrison replied for Farnworth.

Botton club Great Lever gained a 1-1 draw with Hulton Wanderers to prevent their third-placed opponents from closing the gap on leaders Dancers to nine points with three games in hand.
