BOLTON AT HOME SUNDAY LEAGUE: Super Gaz Whiteside fires five in Darcy Lever goal fest
GAZ Whiteside put in a five-star performance as Darcy Lever trounced Division One’s bottom side Great Lever 9-1.
Whiteside hammered home five goals, while Nat Whittle scored twice and Kyle Bailey and Rob Tully completed the rout.
Victory moved Darcy above Gilnow Arms into seventh place in the table.
Farnworth United coasted to victory in their mid-table clash at home to D Havilland.
Goals from Gaz French, Darren Ashworth and Arron Monks ensured a 3-0 scoreline and helped fifth-placed Farnworth open up a seven-point gap over D Havilland in sixth.
Mosesgate also recorded a 3-0 win in their relegation battle at Shamrock.
The visitors remain third-bottom, one place and five points above of their opponents.
Division Two leaders Queen Anne relinquished their perfect record at home to third-bottom Astley Bridge Elite.
After winning their first 15 matches of the season, Queen Anne were unable to see off the visitors who fought bravely for a 4-4 draw.
Mark Truffas scored twice, while Macaulay Stephens and Jamie Haze added a goal apiece for the division’s top dogs.
But they were cancelled out by a hat-trick from Chris Donaghue and a strike from Chris McAughtine.
Queen Anne’s closest rivals Deane took full advantage of the slip-up with an impressive 7-1 victory at home to third-placed Heaton.
Gareth Cunniff lead the rout with four goals, while Martin Lunn, John Miller and Isaac Flynn were also on the scoresheet and Chris Lawton scored the consolation for the visitors.
Despite cutting the gap, Deane remain 13 points adrift in second place.
