EAGLEY Football Club are looking for a new manager and secretary.

Bolton’s top amateur team of the last few years have lost both manager Simon Haworth and secretary Phil Morley.

Former Coventry, Tranmere and Wales striker Haworth has stepped down after five months in the job, while Morley has retired from his role after 14 years’ service to the club.

The West Lancashire League Premier Division club are now inviting applications from people for both roles.

Eagley chairman Brian Catterall said: “We would like to thank Simon and his team, Ian Johston and Irfan Kawri, for their commitment to the club.

“They joined the club at a difficult time so it was never going to be easy.

”In fact it was always going to be a challenge but due to their hard work, amazingly they managed to keep the reserves from relegation and move the first team up to fourth place.

Joining Eagley was a considerable step down from the levels of football they were used to but they took everything in their stride like the professionals they are and we hope it has been an interesting and enjoyable experience.

“Simon's presence at the club had a big influence on not only the senior but also the junior players and they all learned a lot from him.

“We would like to wish him every success for the future.”

On Morley’s retirement, he said: “After 14 years loyal and dedicated service at Eagley FC, Phil has put down his pen, parked his line marker and hung up his boots.

“Phil has been instrumental in the running of Eagley, giving up so much of his time on a voluntary basis as club secretary, groundsman and generally helping out where necessary.

“It is quite understandable he now feels he needs to start spending more time on himself and his family.

“We would like to thank Phil and his wife Elaine for everything they have done for Eagley over the years. They will be greatly missed.”

Anyone interested in applying for either of the positions should send their applications to brian@liftsolutions.co.uk by June 2. Interviews will take place the following week.

The Dunscar club are also looking to recruit more people to become involved with the day-to-day running of the club such as cutting and marking out the pitch, preparing food for the players, selling food and drinks to supporters and general helping out on the day.

Anyone wishing to get involved in any capacity should email brian@liftsolutions.co.uk or ring Brian on 07734 301169.
