CMB continued their impressive high-scoring form in cup competitions by defeat Furness Rovers 5-0 in the West Lancashire Challenge Cup.

Matt Carr led the way with a brace of goals and there were further efforts by Callum Yearsley and Charlie Scholes.

But the pick of the goals was Will Archer as he danced around four defenders and knocked the ball past the keeper to put the icing on the cake in the 80th minute.

Manager Phil Roberts said: "It was another confidence building results and we were solid at the back and scored our fair share of goals."

In the Presidents Trophy, Tempest United booked their place in the next round with a 3-0 win against GSK Ulverston.

Skipper Sean Rothwell scored from a free-kick then Gaz Barnes added a second before Ryan Keegan wrapped it up with five minutes left.

Manager Gary Westhead said: "We had a poor first half and didn't create much with new signing James Raynor making two good saves.

"We gave them a dressing down and they came out all guns blazing and scored."

Bolton County went out of the same competition losing 5-1 against Burscough Richmond.

On the league front, Premier League side Eagley let their lead slip to draw 1-1 on the road against Slyne with Hest with Jack Horan on target.

In Division Two, Ladybridge cruised to a 6-0 victory in their home tie against Walney Island.

Ladybridge controlled the game from start to finish scoring six goals and hitting the bar on seven occasions.

Harry Brazel bagged an early brace before the third goal came early in the second half when Gary Whiteside followed up to slot the ball home after an initial good save from the keeper.

The fourth came when Harry Brazel completed his hat-trick after Gary Whiteside picked him out with a fine cross.

Ladybridge made it 5-0 when Matty Woods stepped up to covert the resulting penalty.

The final goal was the goal of the game with Whiteside picking the ball up after a great passing move and exchanging a one-two with Woods who scooped the return pass over the defence for Whiteside to smash home.

Manager Dave Walker said: "It was a very comfortable victory on the day.

"We created chance after chance and the crossbar came to Walney's rescue on numerous occasions to keep the scoreline down."

Elsewhere, Stoneclough went down 3-0 to Haslingden St Marys.
