EAGLEY extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a brilliant 2-1 victory at Charnock Richard.
The home side were looking for a victory to take them to the top of the Premier Division, but came up against a Bolton side on top of their game.
Inspired by captain Phil Regan who produced a powerhouse performance in the centre of midfield, Eagley took the game to the high-flying Chorley men.
Ryan Porter capped an eye-catching performance on the left wing with a stunning solo goal to put Eagley ahead on 20 minutes. He opened up the Charnock Richard defence with a 30-yard run before stroking the ball under the keeper’s body.
On a pitch which was frosty on top and just about playable, Eagley maintained their composure and built on their lead midway through the second half.
Luke Killeen’s shot was blocked and rebounded out to his strike partner Neil Holmes who tapped in the rebound.
With Charnock Richard always threatening, Gareth Williams had to produce a quality performance in the Eagley goal. And he came up trumps with two superb saves at crucial times.
Eagley are seventh, just four points off the tail end of the title-chasing pack, and already have just two points fewer than the total they amassed last season.
The games involving Turton, Tempest United and Stoneclough were all postponed.
