EAGLEY and Tempest United both went out of the Richardson Cup with 3-2 second-round defeats.
With Turton and Stoneclough not playing, they were Bolton’s only two Premier Divison teams in action.
Ben Wells struck twice in the 60th and 75th minutes to bring Eagley level after they had been trailing 2-0 to Freckleton at half time.
That took the game to extra time and the home side grabbed the winner in the first half of it.
Eagley travel to bottom-of-the-table Dalton United in the league on Saturday, 3pm kick off.
In contrast to their Bolton rivals, Tempest were twice in the lead only to have victory snatched from them in the last seven minutes.
James Hylton put Tempest ahead on five minutes and the close-fought game descended into stalemate until Dalton United equalised on 70 minutes.
Danny Tyrer restored the Bolton team’s lead 10 minutes later.
With seven minutes remaining Darren Smethurst was sent off for fouling a Dalton player as last man.
Tempest believed the decision was harsh and Dalton added to their misery when they scored straight from the free kick.
The visitors clinched victory a minute from time and Tempest will be looking to bounce back when they travel to Poulton Town in the league on Saturday.
