DANNY Spilman struck twice as Horwich Victoria eased their Premier Division relegation fears with an impressive 3-2 victory over high-flying Prestwich.
He was the first to find the net with an early header before the game swung Prestwich’s way.
The visitors, who would have climbed to third with a victory, hit back with two goals to take the lead.
But never-say-die Horwich bounced back as Ross Crompton levelled just before halftime, and Spilman hit the winner in the second half to seal his side’s third league victory of the season which lifted them five points clear of the drop zone with a glut of games in hand on their rivals.
Bury GSOB won 3-1 at CMB in the top-v-bottom clash in Lostock.
The leaders from Bury went ahead early on, but CMB stood firm and levelled shortly after half time when Sam Shone confidently stroked home from the penalty spot.
A potential shock looked on the cards as CMB piled on the pressure until Jimmy Crompton was sent off for a second yellow card.
Bury put their extra man advantage to good use with two more goals to put them nine points clear.
Old Boltonians leapfrogged Chaddertonians in mid-table with a 2-0 victory.
Ben Wells opened the scoring in the first half when he converted a Matt McClellan pass at the end of a slick passing move.
Centre-back James Kinsler sealed the victory when he stroked home a low cross at the near post cross from Rick McClellan.
In Division One, Horwich RMI climbed further clear of relegation danger with a 2-1 win against third-placed Tyldesley United.
Mike Wilkinson was the four-goal star of mid-table Radcliffe Town’s thrilling 6-4 victory over Prairie United.
