DOUGIE Freedman will not take any risks in rushing Mark Davies back into action.

The 26-year-old is again set to miss out today when Barnsley visit the Reebok with a niggling groin injury still not completely healed.

Davies limped off after an hour against Blackpool and has missed the last three matches.

And while it is frustrating for both manager and player after his recent run of good form, the manager says he is happy to play a waiting game.

Freedman told The Bolton News: “Mark Davies won’t play again (today).

“I am really over-cautious with his groin injury and won’t take any risks.

“With Mark’s history we have to make sure he trains right and he hasn’t done the full week, although he has done bits.”

There is little for Wanderers to play for today in terms of league position but Freedman insists he will pick the best team to beat Barnsley and not just a strong side because the game matters to Danny Wilson’s side and others around the drop zone.

He added: “I don’t have any responsibility to anyone other than to our fans who want to see us win and in style.”
