WANDERERS chairman Phil Gartside has flown to Thailand to discuss a possible takeover of the club.

Whites boss Neil Lennon confirmed at his pre-Cardiff press conference on Monday the chairman had jetted out.

Speculation arose last week that Thai groups BEC-Tero and Siam Sport Syndicate were preparing a £40million joint bid to acquire the club, which is currently £163.8million in the red, from owner Eddie Davies.

Wanderers initially played down the reports but it now appears the interest is concrete and Gartside has held talks regarding the proposition after initial discussions several months ago between the club and BEC-Tero managing director Bryan Marcar.

Lennon said: “I don't know about selling the club, but I know Phil Gartside is in Thailand to discuss a proposition from some Thai businessmen.

“I've no idea what the ins and outs of it are, I'll know more when Phil comes back."

"I'll sit down with Phil and discuss what the situation is.

"I have not spoken to Phil since Friday so I cannot tell you anymore on that. It is as you were.

“My focus is on the team.

“I have a big enough job to do so I let the board get on with those things.

“But if it is the best thing going forward for the club then so be it.”
