BURY manager David Flitcroft claimed referee Michael Bull “guessed” before showing Bolton Wanderers loanee Hayden White and Northampton forward Ivan Toney straight red cards for fighting.

The two players tussled after a Northampton corner was cleared, but Bull kept up with play as the Shakers broke, only to blow his whistle as the crowd reacted to the two players grappling on the floor behind the Bury goal.

“The referee must have guessed because he has not taken time out to consult his assistant,” said Flitcroft.

“There was not a gap where he has gone over to his linesman, he couldn’t wait to get two red cards out.

“He couldn’t have seen what happened or who has grappled who to the floor.

“I only looked because of the fans’ reaction behind the goal. That’s what caught my attention and I think that has caught the referee’s attention and he has guessed.”

White will miss Bury’s match at home to Mansfield tomorrow, unless the club are successful with an appeal today.

The Shakers will also be without defender Pablo Mills, who Flitctoft said will now miss up to eight weeks with a groin problem, while striker Danny Nardiello limped off in the first half of yesterday’s match with a hamstring injury and is now a serious doubt.
