PREMIER League chiefs have confirmed that they have received an official complaint from Wolves over an alleged illegal approach by Wanderers for academy player Mark Connolly.
The Molineux club have sent written evidence in support of their claim that there had been a breach of FA and Premier League rules in the transfer that brought the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international to the Reebok on transfer deadline day.
That has now been received by the Premier League, who will now ask Wanderers for their side of the story before discussing the matter at their next monthly meeting, to decide whether to take any further action.
“The Premier League board will consider the complaint from Wolverhampton Wanderers to see if there is a case to answer,” a spokesman said.
“We will also be writing to Bolton Wanderers to give their view on the matter.”
Wanderers have refused to comment on the matter, other than to state on Monday that they had at that time received no correspondence.
A compensation package was agreed between the two parties for the 17-year-old, a graduate of the academy at Molineux. But Molineux chief executive Jez Moxey claimed in a terse statement released at the start of the week that his club intended to take the issue further — with particular reference to Chris Evans, the current Wanderers assistant manager and former Wolves academy director.
