Toure calls for win over Bolton Wanderers

KOLO Toure has urged Manchester City to take control of their season, and heap more misery on Wanderers in the process.

Mark Hughes’ side topped league leaders Chelsea at the weekend, following an unwanted string of seven consecutive draws.

And as City prepare to visit the Reebok — a ground at which they have not won in the league in five years — Toure claims three points is the minimum requirement if the team are to be taken seriously as Champions League challengers.

“We have to make sure we build on the result from Saturday,” said the Ivory Coast defender.

“It is no good beating Chelsea with all the emotion that entailed and then coming home from Bolton with nothing.

“We have shown in the last few days that perhaps we have started to heed some of the lessons from drawing some games that we should have won.

“Now instead of wondering which way our season might go, we are into the mid part of December with a semi-final place booked and just one defeat all season.

“We have had wins over two very good teams and people are talking about us as contenders again.”

Micah Richards has returned to training and is likely to face Wanderers after limping out of Saturday’s 2-1 victory.

The 21-year-old defender revealed that he feared the worst after previous problems with his knee.

“I heard a crack and then the knee gave way and for a moment I thought it was really serious,” he said.

“It was a bit of a worry because it was the right knee, the one on which I had an operation last season. But the pain subsided and fortunately I am fit to train again.”

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that Wayne Bridge will be out for up to the three weeks with a medial ligament injury.
