Its a shame that more clubs don't want to play in the Sunday league. Its a fantastically set up league with Bob and Dave doing a fantastic job at the helm.
We are entering two teams next season, as the demand to play for our club is at an all time high. We would love to enter 3 teams and also set up a junior club, BUT the overall factor is MONEY!
PER TEAM.
League fees = £110
LFA fees = £60+
Pitch fees £400+
To run a team at grass roots per season can cost anything from £1,500 - £2,500 which is silly money, just to play the wonderful game.
Why cant Bolton council/metro put in money to aid this. For example New House Farm has 4 teams playing on it from the league ALL playing £500 each per season, this gets them JUST from the Sunday League £2,000 plus the numerous clubs they have Saturdays and from the vets leagues.
Sams Bar and Scotts play at Green Lane, they share with 2/3 other clubs. The pitch is awful, and has been for years, BUT they still pay £400+ for it to be cut a few times a year.
More lottery money perhaps? could this be shared out to the league to aid funding of pitches?
As said on another thread and i have emailed numerous times about the coverage Sunday League gets, in my time at the club this is the biggest coverage we have had. www.fyldesport.co.uk in Blackpool cover ALL games and maybe our LOCAL paper should take out time to do the same for OUR league. This may bring clubs out and also give us the exposure we deserve.
