Nice one.

Who seriously thought, before the midweek away tie at Wigan, that we would be in the quarter finals of the FA Cup?

The odds were stacked against Whites with two away ties against Premier League opposition.

But now, with the draw the way it has panned out, Wanderers have a very real chance of making it all the way to Wem-ber-ley.

In the last week alone, Ivan Klasnic has repaid Owen Coyle’s faith in him, when he signed him in the summer.

It has been very much a stop-start year for the Croatia forward.

Injuries and Johan Elmander’s early season form have restricted “the goal machine” to a handful of appearances, largely from the sub’s bench.

And at times, he has not looked quite like the razor sharp striker we have come to love.

But with two deadly strikes in the space of five days he he has put himself right back in amongst the goals and right back in contention for a place in Coyle’s full strength team.

And while Klas has been doing the business up front, our defence has put in two sterling performances at the other end of the pitch.

There was some heroic tackling yesterday, and our makeshift back four were immense.

Marcos Alonso had a couple of nervy touches, but other than that, he acquitted himself admirably.

The one name on the team sheet that has confused me over the last week though, has been Chung-Yong Lee.

I thought he was supposed to be exhausted from the Asia Cup.

Coyle is asking the player’s international management to give him a break – but then he is not resting him either.

Kevin Davies, Matt Taylor, Johan Elmander, Stu Holden, Mark Davies and Jussi Jaaskelainen have all been given at least one game off during the two FA Cup matches – but not Chungy.

We need to be careful with him, because we need him at his best in this final third of the season – especially if we make it to the final!
