TEMPEST United were in seventh heaven after coming from behind to edge out Longridge in a thrilling high scoring encounter at Chew Moor Village.

Boss Trevor Ball had to make a couple of changes with the in-form Matty Carter injured and Sean Rothwell missing.

They dominated the early exchanges and should have been 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes but instead they were sucker-punched and losing 2-0 after 15 minutes after some poor defending.

James Hamer pulled one goal back but they fell further behind on the half-hour.

Tom Booth made it 3-2 as Tempest started to play the ball around and match the physical Longridge side.

Hamer stood out for the hosts as he held the ball up and made things happen for others.

It was fitting that he grabbed the equaliser just before half time, and shortly after Longridge were down to 10 men.

With 20 minutes left, Ben Hyde grabbed the winner at 4-3 and the team will feel they should have won by more goals.

Assistant boss Gary Westhead said: “To come back from 2-0 and 3-1 down shows the spirit we have in our club.

“Everyone worked their socks off to get us back in the game and full credit to the lads for digging deep when it mattered.”

In the same division, Eagley’s trip to Norcross and Warbreck was called off while the same fate befell Turton who were scheduled to entertain Ambleside in Division One.

The other local representative in that division, Bolton County, put on their best performance of the season in drawing 1-1 with Hesketh Bank.

The hosts dominated the first half and had a clear penalty shout through Liam Stewart but it was waved away.

It was 0-0 at half time and within 15 minutes of the second period, County took the lead after some quality individual play by Tom Aspin to beat the keeper.

With 15 minutes left, County allowed the visitors to break through the defence and they equalised.

Bolton County boss Henry Chapman said: “Our workrate and commitment were outstanding.

“I brought in Luke Eccles an under-18 centre-half and he was quality.

“It just shows that we have such a young side who are now establishing themselves in this league.“ Despite gale force winds and torrential rain, Ladybridge and Kendal County did not let the weather affect them and produced a fully committed game from start to finish.

After an even first half, Ladybridge were having the better of the second-half when a misplaced throw-in handed Kendal a gift of goal.

Ladybridge were soon back on the attack and equalised through a tremendous free kick from captain Jordan Hussey.

With Ladybridge on top, disaster struck with 10 minutes to go when the Kendal centre-half powered in a superb header from a corner.

Elsewhere, CMB lost out 6-0 on the road at Askam United.
