RADCLIFFE Boro slumped to their first home defeat of the season with a 4-1 defeat to high-flying Farsley AFC in the EvoStik First Division North.

Boro, who are 15th and had won two and drawn three of their previous home league games, were not helped by losing their two strikers, Chris Mason and Jack Hindle, to injury in the first half hour.

But the fourth-placed visitors proved just too strong for Radcliffe whose appeal for fans largely fell on deaf ears with a crowd of 89 in attendance.

Sam Grimshaw’s run and cross found Elliott Rokka after 10 minutes but he fired wide.

Spencer Harris opened the scoring for Farsley on 14 minutes, forcing the ball into the net after a succession of corners.

Two minutes later Chris Cheetham stood firm to save well from Marcus Edwards.

Thomas Hulme and Dave Sherlock replaced Mason and Jack Hindle.

Danny White headed wide from Sherlock’s cross before Farsley doubled their lead five minutes before the interval through Gibraltar international Adam Priestley who found himself unmarked from a corner.

Half time Boro 0 Farsley 2 Boro hit back on 55 minutes when Sam Grimshaw’s free kick was adjudged to have been handled in the box and White converted.

But the visitors’ two-goal lead was restored five minutes later Cheetham saved Edwards’ powerful shot and Ross Daly was on hand to slot home the rebound.

And it was 4-1 a minute later when Aiden Savory scored.

Boro responded and Rokka was denied by a fine save from Tom Taylor, and Radcliffe captain Danny Lafferty had an effort ruled out for offside on 67 minutes.
