TABLE-TOPPERS Atherton Collieries will be out to cement their place at the summit of North West Counties Division One tomorrow when they travel en masse to Eccleshall.

Club secretary Emil Anderson is desperate for the weather to hold up, as he and 50 fans are travelling by coach down to Staffordshire.

"There will be a great atmosphere on board!" said Anderson.

"This season's performances have been beyond our wildest dreams and the team deserves raucous support."

Two points clear of Cammell Laird with two games in hand, Colls are in truly inspired form after three consecutive 5-0 victories.

Striker Mark Battersby has been central to those wins, in which the former Stockport County and Salford City striker has scored six goals.

"Mark is right behind the cause and fully committed to us for the season," said Anderson.

"He's played a big part in our attacking form, but let's not forget that we have scored 21 goals since we last conceded one."

Colls will be bolstered by the return from illness of centre-back Gareth Carson, while left-sided player Gareth Peet is also expected to be fit.

Fourth-placed Daisy Hill entertain Rochdale Town and, despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Cheadle last weekend, they can still go third with a win as long as Barnton slip up against Irlam.

Atherton LR are in action against basement side Oldham Boro. It will be Rovers' 26th game of the season and a win will be vital given the sides chasing them have all played fewer matches.

Matty Davies will be out to impress for Rovers, with Ramsbottom manager Jon Robinson keeping a close eye on him after allowing him to return to LR following a brief trial at the Evo-Stik Premier club.
