DIVISION Three title contenders Broadway went down 4-1 against Division One side Moorside Rangers in the second round of the Sam Ashworth Trophy.

Tony Weall scored twice for Moorside and Paul Wheeling and Lee Holland added one each to cancel out Mike Instone's strike for Broadway.

Salford Waggon are top of Division One on goal difference following their 5-0 thrashing of Astley Bridge, while Turton Bay Mare remain in second after they won 3-0 at basement club North Walkden.

Third-placed Atherton Town were knocked off top spot after crashing to a 5-1 defeat at Queen Lizzie, who are fifth, three points behind the leaders.

Clint McCoughlin netted twice for Queen Lizzie and Lee Whiteley, Trevor Hill and Lee Montgomery were also on the score sheet.

Mark Fairclough hit two for Radcliffe Old Boys A and Scott Kelly also scored as they drew 3-3 with Cheers Bar.

With Division Two leaders Mithcells Unicorn not playing, second-placed Radcliffe Old Boys B reduced the gap to seven points when a Tim Leigh goal earned them three points at bottom side PF Bury.

Martin Jones scored the only goal of the game as Ainsworth A won at Old Boltonians.

Breightmet United went top of Division Three with a 3-1 win at Elton Liberals that left them a point ahead of Broadway, who were in cup action.

Damian Smith scored twice for Breightmet and Michael Shaw also got his name on the scoresheet.
