TURTON boss Neil Johnson says his side will have no fear when they meet favourites Atherton Collieries in tonight's Hospital Cup final at the Macron Stadium
The Edgworth team, who have just been promoted from the West Lancashire League Division One – two divisions below Colls who won their league – will be looking to build on their resurgence over the last three years with some silverware on the big stage tonight.
And while they accept the tag of underdog, they take heart from beating Colls neighbours, and fellow North West Counties League Division One side, Atherton LR on the way to the final.
Johnson, part of a team of people who have breathed new life into Turton following years of decline, believes victory in front of a big crowd at the home of Bolton Wanderers would be a fitting way to round-off a memorable season.
He said: “Michael Clegg and Colls have had a phenomenal season.
"We know we go in as the underdog because they'll have gained a lot of confidence from their performances.
“We'll just go and enjoy the occasion, and to have it as the final game of the season is great.
“It's a one-off game and we'll give Colls the respect they deserve. And we'll have to be at our best against a team two divisions above us.”
