RADCLIFFE Borough head to Salford City tomorrow hoping for a repeat of last weekend’s morale-boosting victory over Curzon Ashton.

In keeping with the form of the campaign, that 3-1 triumph came off the back of a defeat by the same scoreline against Cltheroe.

But after mid-season signing Kevin Sanasy bagged a brace on Saturday, and strike partner Ben Wharton also found the net for his 14th goal of the season, boss Kevin Glendon is aiming for even more from his front two, admitting his frustration that Boro do not sit higher than their current Evo-Stik Division One North position of 15th.

Glendon said: “That clinical edge has been the only difference between us and the top sides this year.

“We haven’t lost too many more games or shipped in too many more goals than the sides in the top half, but we haven’t been able to convert draws into the same number of victories.

“When we get the top third right, we invariably go on to win.”

Elsewhere, play-off chasing Ramsbottom United face a crunch trip to fourth-placed Mossley looking to leapfrog their hosts with a win.

The Rams slipped from second to fifth after a 3-1 defeat at Cammell Laird on Tuesday.

Mark Drew opened the scoring on Merseyside but Laird hit back with three unanswered second-half goals.

The Mossley game is the first of two crucial away trips in four days for Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s side who are back on Merseyside, at Prescot Cables, on Tuesday.
