OLD Boltonians kept their perfect record intact despite struggling to find their impressive early-season form.

A 3-0 victory over Rochdale St Clements made it 15 points and five clean sheets.

And manager Julian Stevens was delighted with his side’s focus on getting the three points whether the fluency is there or not.

“We just couldn’t get going,” he said after goals from Matt McLellan, Kyle Rose and Rob Taylor kept them three points clear of Castle Hill.

“But after the disappointment of missing out on the title by one point last season there’s a hunger in the team that’s noticeable.”

Castle Hill are three clear of the rest in second after an 80th-minute penalty by Des Wilcox, given when Mark Gordon was brought down, earned them three points at Tottington United.

Nick Collins cancelled out an early opener just before half time when he poked home Carl Henry’s back heel.

Ben Wells put Castle Hill ahead with a long-range header on 65 minutes before Tottington levelled 10 minutes later to set up the late penalty drama.

Little Lever and Howe Bridge Mills are among four teams who are all three points behind Castle Hill.

After going a goal behind, Little Lever turned on the style to beat Rossendale Amateurs 5-1.

Phil Regan headed them level and Leon Farrimond put them ahead before half time with an inspired 30-yard lob.

Teenager Matty Woods, captain Craig Bingham and Scott Bingham ensured the scoreline accurately reflected their dominance in the second half.

A towering header from Karl Fitzmorris 10 minutes from time gave Howe Bridge Mills the points in an uneventful home game against Old Blackburnians.

At the other end, Horwich Victoria followed up a midweek victory at Hesketh Bank with a thrilling 4-4 home draw with reigning champions Prestwich.

Two goals behind at half time and 4-1 down in the second half – Tom Whittle scoring the one – Chris Ashton with a 30-yarder, Danny Edmonson capitalising on a goalkeeping error and Luke Skelly equalising from the spot on 90 minutes earning them a share of the points.

In the Manchester League Division One, Atherton Town just got the better of Breightmet United in a hard-fought game.

Breightmet had much the better of the first half and took a deserved two-goal lead inside 30 minutes.

Before Kyle Bailey missed an open net after rounding the keeper, the impressive Osman Karakan and Gary McShane struck for Breightmet.

Dane Grimes pulled one back for Atherton who stepped up a gear after the break, Hemsley Mills hit the bar and his brother, Leighton levelled with a half volley before Andy Aldredwon it in the 80th minute with a header from a corner before both teams had a player sent off after a heated exchange.

Hindsford remain top of the Premier Division with a 4-1 victory at Wythenshaw Town.
